What is HTML

Okay now your ready to jump into the action, its time to start coding some HTML to make some content. Following the links on the left to go through the most common uses of HTML. Some of them may be boring I'm sorry but its very important that you learn it.

Here is an example of what HTML looks like

so lets break it down, to open a HTML tag you type a square bracket and then the tag name and then followed by a closing square bracket. Next is the content inside the tags and this can be anything from text to even more tags and lastly its time to close the tag, this is done by typing the same as the opening tag but with a forward slash inside to represent the end of a tag.

So now we understand how the HTML language works its time to get to work and start coding.

Getting Started

Now its time to get started lets have a look at an example of a web page

This the basic layout of what a website looks like, so to start with we have the HTML tag which is where all HTML content is stored so everything goes inside the HTML tags.

Next is the head tags which is used to store information such as the page title and links to other files (don't worry about this now)

The body tag is where the content of the website is stored, its important to know the difference between the head and the body tags but for now we is just going to be focusing mainly on the body.
